Day at the Track

Yesterday I did some event photography out at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis. There were two groups of people participating in a day at the track event where they got to suit up and drive a dragster down the quarter mile strip in a racing school. It was pretty amazing. They each got to drive three times and then they got to ride in a passenger dragster with a professional driver who made the run in about 9 seconds. Yes, 9 seconds. I took photos of them suiting up in the fireproof suits and then driving. I took a photo of each person next to their car and in the cockpit which I printed on-site so they would have a souvenir to take home at the end of the day.

First they had to find a fire-suit to wear.
Then they hop in the car and put on the helmet.
After getting strapped into a 5-point harness they pull on the gloves and are ready to go.
This is a view from the cockpit.
They drive up to the "Christmas Tree" of lights under the hot Texas Sun.
This is a nice pan shot of a driver on the track. They go by pretty fast!
Finally, the President of the company sponsoring the event celebrates after taking his passenger ride down the strip. He was pretty fun to photograph.
If you are interested in booking me to photograph your next event contact me. Each participant got a 5x7 photo to take home at the end of the event and the organizers got CDs of all images taken. I can create a custom package for you too.
