Recipe Cards

Supper Club was last weekend and we had a chili cook-off. I've already posted my chili recipe and you can find it here. But before I get to the free recipe card let me show you a new one that's available in the store to add to your collection.

I also made a new card for a chicken stew I made for dinner tonight. It's been cold and we are trying to eat home more often so I threw together some stew for dinner. It turned out pretty tasty and I thought I might like to make it again so I took a photo and made a recipe card before I could forget what I did. If you like chicken and you want something a little different try this stew.
You can purchase a recipe card here. If you prefer to keep you recipes on your computer instead of printing them out you can get a download in the store. Choose the recipe, click on the buy tab and then instead of choosing prints choose downloads. Downloads can be stored on you hard drive or printed out.

My contribution to the supper club Chili Cook-Off menu was dessert and since we had our mouths on fire from the chili I thought something nice and light and cool would be a good idea. I made one of my favorite desserts called an Icebox Eclair. My mom used to make a version of this when I was a kid and it's so great but this is a little lighter and healthier version. My mom's version used full-fat pudding made with whole milk, regular whipped topping and a can of chocolate icing. So good! This version uses sugar-free/fat free pudding which I make with skim milk, light whipped topping and the chocolate glaze is definitely not icing :)
Sorry, freebie expired, but you can purchase a printed copy in my store.

Wedding Details

I used my new macro at last night's wedding. I love it!

I've never been able to get close enough to shoot the inscription inside the rings before. I think I'm going to get a lot of cool photos with this lens.
Some pretty bling on the shoes.
Can't wait for the next wedding! Do you need a wedding photographer? Contact me. My prices are reasonable, my creativity is unlimited, and most of all...I love weddings! I might even have a wedding movie marathon tomorrow: 27 dresses, The Wedding Planner, and The Wedding Date. Happiness!

Bowling

I took a tour of the International Bowling Training Center and here are a few of my favorite photos from the day.

So I sat on top of a 16-foot ladder to get a birds-eye view of a bowler. Seriously nerve-wracking.
Kind of nice, don't you think?
So they have these amazing sensors the bowler wear that record all their movements to study their form. It's the the bionic woman is bowling.
I got to go in the back and get behind the pins. it's not as easy as you would think.
What a beautiful center.

I love being published.

Today I saw one of my photos in a week by week analysis of the Cowboys season. Love that.

Girl's Basketball

I love to take photos of girl's basketball. Why? They are scrappy and they dive all over the place to get to the ball so it's more than just armpit shots :) Last night I went to my first girl's game of the season and had a good time.
I so love the flag at center court.
Fighting for a loose ball.
It's mine!

Bowling

The International Bowling Hall of Fame and Training Center just opened and here are a few photos I took. My dad would have loved this place. He's in the Hometown Heroes Sections of the Hall of Fame...in case you didn't know. There's bowling in my blood :)

Mmm. I love neon! Imagine the photos I could take if it were actually dark ;)
So in the gift shop they have the coolest "bowling" shoes. $99.00 a pair! I so need these.
Cute keychains...much more affordable!
They had a special Bowling for the Cure event where you could win by getting a strike on a lane where there were 10 pink pins. So pretty!
Super cool reflections!
Strike!
There's a very cool giant bowling pin that's lit up at night.

USA...Today!

I had a few photos show up today from game I shot earlier this football season. The Cowboys may be out...but my photos are still in :)

Lens Baby

I got a Lens Baby to play with today. So fun! Its a Composer series and I used the f/8 aperture disc. My subject was not a cooperative as I would have liked (I had to bribe her with some pupperoni!), but I still got to see how cool the images look when I move the "sweet spot" around. Annie kept running around and rolling in the grass and this is not a lens for stopping action, number one you have to manual focus and number two I chose the f/8 aperture disc so my shutter speed was at 1/125. My puppy wiggles faster than that :)

Sweet Spot in the middle looks pretty nice.
Looks neat as a vertical too.
This is my favorite. I put the "sweet spot" off to the lower right and she finally looked at me without moving out of the frame. Finally!

Candy Hearts

I am working on some cards designs for Red River Paper for Valentine's Day and I purchased a bag of conversation hearts to photograph for an idea I have. So...those candy hearts are not exactly as I remember them as a kid. First of all, the little sayings aren't on every heart, and most of the hearts that have writing on them can barely be read. So disappointing. On the bright side there were some fun new sayings on the hearts like "Text Me" and "UR Hot" so that made me laugh. Here are a few of my candy hearts photos.

Hugs and Kisses!
Tweet me!
Seriously...if you want to follow me on twitter I am ellmanphoto.
I may not end up using the candy hearts in my card designs after all but I still like the photos, and if you are interested in making your own Valentine's Day cards the templates should be posted on the Red River site sometime next week.

Yay! My Mike Ribeiro photos have finally been published. I spent an afternoon with him shooting some fashion in the fall for the winter issue of the magazine and I just looked online and the teaser is up. Here are a few of my favorite pics from the shoot

With some cool lights in the background.

You can see it here. My photo is the one in the lower right corner. Mr. Debonair.

Rodeo

I got a chance to shoot the Cowboys of Color Rodeo at the Fort Worth Stock Show this afternoon. This wasn't my first rodeo :)
What a great face!
So they have this event called Mutton Busting. Little kids ride a sheep until they fall off and the crowd loves it. I'll admit it is pretty funny.
Cowboys in the chute getting ready to ride the bulls
Bull Riding makes great photos.
Ouch!
A nice cowboy shot that I used a texture overlay on. You can find these cool textures at shadowhouse creations.

High School Basketball

Here are a few more photos from last Friday's basketball game.

Ok. So this school lets some little kids sit on the bench with the high school team and about halfway through the game I noticed that they were a little bored. I think this is a hilarious photo!
Defense.
This kids knocked over the defender, got the baset...and ONE!
Steal!
Driving to the basket.
This one was from the JV game. Great action!

SportsCenter is next.

Well I'm guessing my instances of published photos will go down now that the Cowboys got eliminated from the playoffs yesterday but some places are still using photos of the Cowboys opponents from games I worked earlier this year. :) Like that.

More Basketball

Saturday evening I photographed some 8-9 year old girl's basketball. What fun! These girls were really having a great time and it showed.
Look at that smile!
This is what I call defense!
They worked hard to get to the basket.
Excitement on the bench.
Beautiful!
