Bluebonnets!

This weekend I was in the Hill Country and there were some amazing bluebonnets. Seriously amazing. Fields full of them. When you grow up in West Texas like I did and you learn in school that the bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas it doesn't make any sense. They don't grow out there, but when you drive through the hill country in April...WOW! I get it now.
But first a pretty leaf picture I took in the rain.
Now for the flowers. Like I said...some SEROIUS bluebonnets. Tons and tons of them, and the grass hadn't grown up into them like you see on the side of the highway. There's like the perfect day to photograph the bluebonnets after they are fully mature but the grass around them is still short. Ahhh...Sunday was that perfect day.
I like this one...it's a little different form how most people take the bluebonnet photo.
Here's how I usually see them photographed but it was raining so there are some cool water droplets on the petals. :)
Here I am among the bluebonnets and indian paintbrush. My husband took this photo. He's somewhat of a photographer too!

Wedding Details

I got a change to photograph some wedding details this evening. It was a gorgeous room with some beautiful lighting. Seriously beautiful lighting! I did a lot of slow shutter speed stuff to make sure I captured all the colors instead of flashing it and losing all the color.

Isn't this amazing? I love the pattern projected on the ceiling and the amber lights on the walls. Absolutely gorgeous!
Some flowers with a pretty pink light in the background.
There was a table full of candles surrounded by rose petals. It's pretty from the side but I love it from overhead. There were a few candles that wouldn't stay lit and from the side you could really see the unlit candles but from above...not as noticeable.
More candles lining the mirrored hallway. I'd love to know how many pounds of rose petals were used. This hall was about 20 feet long and had rose petals from end to end. Fabulous!
Pretty drink in pretty light.
And you can't forget the cake! The smell of buttercream in the room was so amazing. It made my head spin!
The reflective tray is nice.
Cake in a pattern...and yes I had to mess up that pattern and eat a piece. So Yummy!
Now for the cake display. I like how the red light in the background frames the groom's cake.
Cake from a different angle. I wonder if it was real or just boxes covered in fondant. It's too pretty to eat.

Flowers

My wonderful husband sent me some tulips for Valentine's day last weekend so I took them out and photographed them. Actually...I sat them by the front door and photographed them with some pretty window light.
The macro again. Love that depth of field...or lack of :)
Shooting into the light makes the flowers glow.
Love the curve of the leaves.

Snowy flowers

My wonderful husband sent me tulips for Valentine's day so of course I had to take them out and photography them. I got them Thursday just before School got out and when I got home the snow was still falling so I took a few stems in the backyard and photographed them with my macro lens. Everything was so white that I liked the contrast of the bright colors laid against the snow. I even tried to take a piece of frozen glass outside to collect some snowflakes to photograph but the snow was falling so hard and fast that the flakes broke up when they hit the glass :( Here are my flower photos. Enjoy!
Snow collecting on the leaves.
I left this one laying out there for a while.
I love the bud peeking out of the leaves on this one.
Pretty in Pink.
