Cindy is 50

Last Saturday I spent the evening with the most lovely family celebrating Cindy's 50th birthday. It was an amazing party full of family and friends having the most special evening. Cory from Cocktails and Caviar planned the event which was held at Royal Oaks Country Club. Joanne the catering director at the club is so great to work with and I always love working with Cory and his team. They made some Amazing happen Saturday night. Absolute Entertainment set up some amazing lights. The room was bathed in blue light for dinner with patterns of light on the ceiling. Absolute Entertainment, Cocktail and Caviar, Fauxcdes, Suite 206 and bbj linens combined their talents to transform the ballroom at Royal Oaks into a supper club for the evening. I loved it. After dinner Emerald City played and it turned into a dance party. My husband has a lot to live up to in 8 years ;)

This is Cindy. She's fun, fit and fearless....and might I add fabulous.
The room was spectacular. Blue light everywhere, lamps on the tables, perfectly coordinated linens and flowers. Spectacular.
Here's a closeup of the lamp bases that were filled with water and flowers.
The places were set with plates on brown linens with blue napkins that were folded to hold a menu which if you look at it mimics the pattern in the rim of the plate in color that match the linens. Perfetcly coordinated.
There were a few smaller tables along the sides of the room with low lamps barely peeking up over the wine glasses. Love these little intimate tables for four.
Cindy had a signature blue drink served at the cocktail hour. I'm not sure exactly what was in it but I heard champagne and I saw orange twists so I'm betting it was pretty tasty.
We took a few family photos before the party started.
 Love this family.
After dinner Cindy was toasted by her three kids.
It was fun to wathc her as she listend to what her kids had to say.
Then she was toasted by her two brothers.
And finally her husband Phil got up to toast his wife.
 What a great couple.
Then they partied the night away on the dance floor and honestly I don't think Cindy stopped dancing once.
Her dad even took a turn dancing with her.
and somehow she ended up on stage singing with Emerald City...FUN!
Happy Birthday Cindy! I hope I look as fabulous as you at 50 and that I am surrounded by as much love from family and friends. Your party was Amazing and so are you.

Karen's 35th birthday

12.12.12. What a great day for a birthday and Karen celebrated hers in style with a party for her closest friends at La Duni in Dallas. Their slogan is where there is cake there is love. I'm all about that :) Here's a peek at her photos.
I'll start with the cake. La Duni cake = Amazing. There were two kinds Cuatros Leches and Venezuelan Triple Chocolate. There were three candles: one for the past, one for the present and one for the future. Love that.
So I went to the salon where she was getting ready and I have to show you what she wore. This gorgeous Herve Leger dress, Le Silla shoes and both a fur coat for outside and a fur wrap for inside along with Swarovski jewelry. She was stunning.
La Duni was set up for a beautiful intimate dinner. Soft lighting, flowers that matched her dress and candles.

Her friends were thrilled to celebrate with her.
And she went around the room and told each one why they meant so much to her. It was heartwarming. I like this shot were she was reflected in the mirror on the back wall of the room framed by her friends listening. There was one spot in the room where the light hit her as she moved around the table and it was just perfect when she moved into the light.
She saved her mom for last...I love this.
A little cheer after the toast.
The menu was fabulous. There was champagne and the food was amazing. I got to eat and I will definitely go back to La Duni.
I love how everyone was seating around a big square table so that everyone could see everyone else.
Here's a veiw of the party from outside :)
Finally it was time for cake. Love that smile.
Everyone who attended the party was amazing. One of her super fun friends offered me a "crisp" dollar bill to email the group photo out today. I didn't take his dollar...I don't have everyone's email addresses to send it to and that just wouldn't be right ;) but you can right click and save it from here. I'd share this group photo anyway, such an amazing group of people.
Happy Birthday Karen. Here's to many more wonderful years. Cheers!

Little Lauren is One!

I spent the afternoon with some of my favorite people photographing their little girl's first birthday party. We photographed Lauren as a tiny newborn, a sweet 6 month-old at Christmastime and we took her one-year portraits last month. She's a beautiful little girl.
Cheryl is so super organized and talented, and made the cutest decorations for the party. Look at these little favor boxes.
Oh yes the cake! Cheryl drew out her idea and took it to The Cakery and they made it happen. Amazing!
A candid portrait I took.
Noah and his precious little girl.
It's my party and I'll cry if I want to!
Love this one. My favorite.
Lauren has the biggest blue eyes!
So happy!
Sweetest little family :)

Hailey is One!

First birthdays are special. Hailey's was no different. She had a big crowd of family and friends who came to celebrate and she even had even a tiny tiara. Too cute!
She was crawling around the backyard. Super cute with the puppy!
Learning to walk with a little help from grandma. She's so happy!
So sweet.
Her amazing birthday cake from Texas Star Bakery. I had a little piece. It was outstanding. It reminded me of the groom's cake at my own wedding...which coincidentally was from Texas Star :) They do beautiful work.
And her little smash cake.
Look how much fun mom and dad are having. Love it!
This was her first cake ever and she wasn't quite sure what to do.
Hey dad...wanna share?

Brooke's Birthday

A few weeks ago I photographed Brooke's amazing 6th birthday party. There were lots of kids and lots of jumping as it was held at Bounce U. What a fun place to have a party. I took lots of photos and I even went down the slide a few times myself :)

Here's the scrapbook page I created from the party. It was hard to choose my favorite photos as there were so many good ones of Brooke having fun.
This is all my creation except for the stitching and heart which were a free download from the template I downloaded a few weeks ago. I would give the designer credit but I have no idea who it was. The file had no TOU and no designer's name in the filename. If I were designing digital scrapbooking freebies I would go into the file info box and put my TOU and other important information there so it would be attached to the file :) I started with that template but I changed it so much that it really bears very little resemblance to the original.

Anyway, the background is a photo of the red fabric on the chairs at Bounce U with a photo of the Birthday Girl overlayed on it, and the Happy Birthday and the presents were extracted from a gift bag I photographed at the party. Font is Lucida Sans.
