I've been so busy I've been letting my clips pile up on my desktop...that's a good problem to have :) Here's some recent journalism work.

 A photo from Adrienne and Jordan's wedding ran in the Mansfield News Mirror Bridal section. Another one from a different wedding ran in the print edition but I don't have a copy of it.

Bowling

I took a tour of the International Bowling Training Center and here are a few of my favorite photos from the day.

So I sat on top of a 16-foot ladder to get a birds-eye view of a bowler. Seriously nerve-wracking.

Kind of nice, don't you think?

So they have these amazing sensors the bowler wear that record all their movements to study their form. It's the the bionic woman is bowling.

I got to go in the back and get behind the pins. it's not as easy as you would think.

What a beautiful center.

The International Bowling Hall of Fame and Training Center just opened and here are a few photos I took. My dad would have loved this place. He's in the Hometown Heroes Sections of the Hall of Fame...in case you didn't know. There's bowling in my blood :)

Mmm. I love neon! Imagine the photos I could take if it were actually dark ;)

So in the gift shop they have the coolest "bowling" shoes. $99.00 a pair! I so need these.

Cute keychains...much more affordable!

They had a special Bowling for the Cure event where you could win by getting a strike on a lane where there were 10 pink pins. So pretty!

Sunday I took some photos of a few professional bowlers competing to see if it's better to bowl one-handed or two. If you aren't a bowler then you have no Idea what I am talking about, but my dad is in the Bowling Hall of Fame so I know the difference. I grew up watching Earl Anthony on TV on Saturday afternoons so Sunday's photo shoot was pretty fun for me.

You can really see the difference from the side. The American bowls the traditional one-handed style, but look at how high he lifts the ball on the back-swing. Wow!

The Austrailian bowls the two-handed style. You should have seen the rotations and curve on his ball. Amazing!

After the match they held a clinic for people to learn the styles. I think this is such a fun photo of this kid following through after throwing the ball two handed.

This kid had the coolest glasses reflecting the bowlers on the lanes.

And just in case you were wondering, no...this time I did not come close to getting hit by the balls. These guys were pro.

So the bowling photos I shot about a month ago were published today and I got to see a copy of the mag. I had the cover and a large photo inside as well :)

I shot some photos today for The Fourth Period Magazine. So much fun hanging out with the guys from the magazine and my fabulous model Mike Ribeiro. I'll post the photos when the issue is published...they are amazing!

Bowling

It's been a long time since I have been in a bowling alley but today I had a photo shoot at the Super Bowl in Plano. There's a lot of color in a bowling alley these days. The house balls are all bright colors which is not what I remember from my youth. When I was a kid my parents bowled together every Wednesday night so I spent a lot of time in bowling alleys. What I remember the most is the distinctive sound of the pins hitting the wood. My shoot today wasn't about the color or the sounds but I took a few photos of that anyway just for myself.

My photos were of kids bowling and if you've even

been in an alley you know how dark they are. Not the easiest place to take good photos, but we were allowed to block off some lanes and set up lights so that made it much better. First we photographed the younger kids taking lessons. They went one at a time and this girl was great. She was totally into the photo shoot and had the fun personality to make the pictures work. Most of the kids were shy and afraid to act for the camera but not her, she was a fabulous model for us.

After the younger kids we had several high school bowling teams come in so we could photograph high school bowlers in action. We still had our lanes blocked off and the kids were great about bowling into the lights. I was kneeling out on the ball return between the lanes and I only got hit twice. Apparently there were a lot of close calls judging from the girl bowlers expressions, but none were hard enough to hurt :)

This team really caught my eye. They were pretty good and they also had the fun personalities to work with the photos we were trying to take. They were intense when throwing the ball but they had good reactions after a strike.

This is my favorite from the day. We shot most of the bowling photos with the long lens from down the lane but near the end of the shoot I put on a wide angle and stood about a foot in front of the foul line. This guy gets pretty low when he throws so the wide angle worked perfect for him.

All in all it was a fun day with lots of good pictures made and memories remembered.
