Sunday Lisa, Brandon and I spent a few hours taking fun engagement photos in Dallas. I love this couple, they are so fun!

We started at the reflecting pool over at the opera house. We had perfect weather for reflecting the skyline.

Love this place...

...and this couple.

Lisa wanted to see what the fisheye would look like so I pulled out the lensbaby with the fisheye lens and it looks pretty cool. I don't typically use my fisheye on engagement shoots but it really worked with the opera house in the background. It sort of gives me that peeking in on a private moment feeling and I like it.

I love to play with murals on walls.

Then we went over to a park so we could get the skyline in the background but it was really too foggy. I like the photos we got better with the trees than the skyline anyway :)

I love how it blurs the corners.

Then another with the fisheye optic in. Cute!

The balloons were so much fun and Lisa gave one to every kid we saw at the park. They were so excited! I think Lisa's a big kid at heart :)

State Bound!

One of my students made All-State band. How impressive is that? I remember trying out for All-Region Orchestra when I was in Junior High and it was super competitive and scary. And that was just for the region...not the whole state! So he asked if I might take a few photos of him with his tuba and of course I said yes. Here are my favorites :)

Now that Nicole is married I can safely share a few of her amazing bridal portraits. We took them the last week of December and lucky for us it was an amazing unseasonably warm winter day.

She wore cool lace up sandals so we had to show them off.

And remember they had pie...and IBC Cream soda. So awesome. I think the upside down crystal vases with vintage china plats on top to create pedestals for all the pies is a fabulous idea. I am so stealing this for my next dinner party.

Nicole and Daniel are Married!

Today Nicole and Daniel got married in a beautiful ceremony at the Northeast Wedding Chapel. They are a super fun couple and their wedding was oh so cool. They had lots of fun details that made their wedding unique like pie instead of cake and IBC Cream Soda as a favor. Fun! Here's a quick peek at their photos.

Daniel and his guys all wore white Converse shoes and all the flowers were made of fabric. Amazing.

Nicole's dress and sandals.

He surprised her with a necklace and earrings to wear. Love her smile.

Halfway down the aisle dad reached over and put his hand on hers she looked at him and I was done for. Its a good thing autofocus works when the tears start flowing. Such a sweet moment.

So they had pie instead of cake. I am told that she bought him a buttermilk pie before they were even dating and he loved it and so they decided to have the pie at their wedding. LOVE it! There are a pie on every table. What a fun idea.

April + Rahul = Happily Ever After

Last month April and Rahul get married at the Piazza in the Village and I was lucky enough to be their photographer. April and Rahul and all of their guests are without a doubt the nicest group of people I photographed all year long. Every time I took a photo I heard the words "Thank You". It was refreshing and wonderful to have people appreciate us so much at their event. It was a wonderful day full of love, fun and beautiful images. Here are some highlights.

I'll start with the bling. You know how I love things that sparkle. And her bangles were gorgeous red, gold and sparkly. Every time I photograph an Indian wedding I am in awe of their jewelry. I need some of these bangles :) Indian brides wear these bracelets for luck, I would wear them for luck and because they are beautiful!

She got ready at Elixr salon across the street from the Piazza. Three photos into my post and I'mm jealous of April all over again ;) Elixr Salon is wonderful. The make-up artist and hairstylists were all simply amazing and I can just image what a day there must be like. Ahhhh....I need a spa day!

After hair and make-up we went across the street to the chapel...in the rain. It rained all day long but April and Rahul were troopers and made the best of it. Here come the jealousy again. April had two of everything. Lucky! And lucky for me because I get more gorgeous photos to show off to you!

Her American wedding dress which she wore for the ceremony and the beginning of the reception and her Indian wedding dress which she wore for the rest of the reception and the exit. Both dresses were simply gorgeous.

The ceremony was in the chapel and you would not believe how beautiful it was. The pink and purple light at the altar, the rose petals lining the the aisle, the candles, the chandeliers, and even their names and wedding date in the doorway as the guests arrived.

You'll see her walking in, him seeing her, the kiss and a few more. Here is the sweet little ring bearer and the flower girl waiting her turn. So cute!

I love this shot right after dad gives her way. It's one of those perfect moments that happen at a wedding and it just makes my tear up every time. Next time you are at a wedding, watch this moment. The father almost always lowers his head as he walks away. Its a touching moment that his little girl is becoming a married woman nestled in with all the happiness of the day.

A few more from the ceremony. I love the rose petals lining the aisle. Lots of venues won't let you use real rose petals but the Piazza is great, and the candles lining the aisle are pretty cool too. They are electric but look, feel and smell real. The effect is gorgeous without all the heat from the flames. Have you ever been in a room full of candles? I have. It's hot. These candles totally rock.

At the end of the ceremony Rahul gave her a bunch of coins and she held them up. Loved it!

So happy!

Back in the bridal room April and Rahul high-fived. I am seriously in love with this couple. Not only, were they super nice. They were so much fun to photograph.

Their wedding party was super fun as well. I told them to be casual, and do something a little fun so Rahul took the bouquet and everyone else stuck a pose. Awesome!

We had taken some bridal photos a few weeks before the wedding. These are the ones they chose to have printed and displayed at the reception. Some of my favorites! And it worked out great that we got to take some photos of the two of them outside together since it rained on their wedding day.

April and Rahul were a little shy and the DJ made them kiss before the dance. Everyone was clinking their glasses and it was so cute.

So I always try to take this photo of her hands wrapped around his neck where you can see the new ring and any other jewelry she's wearing but it doesn't always happen. With April it happened twice! I got this photo during the first dance with her American dress on and again during the private last dance with her Indian dress on. Happy photographer.

There's nothing else in his face but love for April. He adores her and it is written all over his face.

After the dances April and Rahul went and changed into traditional Indian wedding clothes.

And came back to the reception for cake cutting, toasting and lots of dancing.

I love, love, LOVe it when the guests really go after the garter and bouquet. So many times everyone stands there and ets it fall on the floor. Not this wedding!!! Awesome guests.

Exit...and yes, it was still raining but the guests were troopers and stood outside to wish them well and send them on their way.

The Red Balloons

This week I met up with Miss Avery, her mom and her amazing Aunt Ashley for a super fun family photo session. Last year we spent the day in Las Colinas, this year...Highland Park. Ashley scoped out a great park and she had a surprise in store for Avery. Balloons! We had so much fun here are the highlights.

Avery was so excited when she saw the balloons. Her face says it all.

A few weeks ago I got to photograph Ted's Bar Mitzvah. So. Much. FUN! The party was at the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame in the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards and Ted even played two songs with the band! Super cool!

This is Ted. He's pretty awesome.

We weren't allowed to photograph the service so we took some family photos and Torah pictures a few days ahead of time.

On Saturday the party was at the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame. They had a Shabbat Service before dinner.

And then comes the party :) All the kids were VIPs

Ted's signature drink was the Yellow Submarine and he played two Beatles songs with the band Me and My Monkey. This is a photo from his sound check.

They had a fun photo booth by A-Photobooth with tons of props. The owner Greg Thomas is a friend of mine but I didn't know he had a Photobooth until we worked this event together. So fun!

So for Ted's first song with the band he played guitar.

Mom was cheering like crazy.

After Ted played his first song it was time for the Hora. I love this shot of Ted, his mom and dad, his sister and both sets of grandparents dancing. It makes me happy!

Then it's up in the chair! As the band played a cool mash-up of Hava Nagila and Twist and Shout. Really, Really, REALLY cool.

Then Ted played his second song with the band. This time he plays bass. He's really talented.

Mom was filming the whole thing. I love how the pride shows on her face.

At the end on the song the crowd went crazy.

Lisa & Charlie

A month ago I had the pleasure of photographing the wonderful wedding of Lisa and Charlie. I posted a sneak peek right after the wedding but now that I've had a chance to edit all the photos I have some more to share :)

The bridesmaids all wore different style green Lula Kate dresses. They were super cute and everyone wore cowboy boots to the reception.

Henry!

About 5 weeks ago I photographed Henry's Bar Mitzvah at Temple Emanu-El in Dallas. What a wonderful day. Henry is super awesome and his service and party were amazing! The day of coordinator, Wendy kept everything running smoothly And DJ Patrick "P-Love" Alston and the dancers kept the kids playing games and dancing all night. MiPhotoBooth was there and everyone had a great time taking photos in the booth.

It was Henry's Can Do Bar Mitzvah and there were cans decorated with the logo. How fun! There was also a "Can"dy Bar with every kind of candy imaginable for the kids to fill up a bag before they left the party. Clever!

We took some Torah photos before the ceremony.

And some family portraits too. They are beautiful and I love the stained glass in the sanctuary at the Temple. It's gorgeous!

Henry plays the violin and he played a song during his service. Wow! I was impressed. I play the violin and I would be way too nervous to play in front of all those people on such an important day. He did not miss a note.

We weren't allowed to photograph the service so we set up most of the temple photos ahead of time but this is my very favorite part of the bar mitzvah when they carry the Torah through the congregation. There was a small window in the door and so I was able to take two frames through the window as they were walking across the back. It's real, it's candid and it makes my heart smile.

Now for the party. There was cake AND cupcakes :) Cupcakes with stars on top. Now that's my kind of cupcake!

It was actually Henry's birthday the day of his Bar Mitzvah so they had party blowers and candles.

The kids had tons of fun games including a hula hoop contest, and tons of carnival games

They even had giant sheets of bubble wrap to stomp on. How FUN!

But I think Henry's favorite part of the party was the blackjack table.

They had a snowball dance. You know I LOVE the snowball dance. Two kids start...

SNOWBALL! They each have to get a new partner.

SNOWBALL! until everyone is dancing.

Even the adults got into the dancing :)

April and Rahul are Married!

Sunday I had the pleasure of photographing April and Rahul's wedding at the Piazza in the Village at Colleyville. They are the nicest couple I have ever photographed. I think I heard "thank you" more times on Sunday then I've ever heard it before. Such a wonderful couple and family. The ceremony was beautiful and the reception was a great party. Here's a little sneak peek.

The wedding rings on the Indian bracelets. These bracelets were so beautiful. I love red and sparkle so I was all about photographing them. I love how the sparkle turns into pretty bokeh in the background.

April had two dresses, and both were gorgeous.

The Bressler Family

About a month ago I had the pleasure of photographing the Bresslers...again. :) I photographed Christian and Brady's wedding a few years ago and it was time for some updated family portraits. We met in Canyon and had some fun in the cold.

We started out by the trees and on the steps with a few traditional style photos

Then we found this fun building and put the kids in the front.

Then the parents in the front :)

Everyone brought their cowboy boots :) See the snow on the ground behind them. I'm not lying, it was cold.

Christian had made these letters wrapped in twine. So cute.

This might be my favorite.

A composite of each family member holding a letter. They had coordinated clothes in red, black and gray and we just happened to find this small red background where we were shooting. Everything else was very neutral but the red really pops. I love it!

Finally after the rest of the family left Christian and Brady stayed behind for a few more shots.

Horned Frog Family :)

Rick and Cris both graduated from TCU and their kids are both super Frog Fans already. We spent the morning photographing around the campus to get some amazing family portraits :)

First, the whole family. I {heart} these guys they are so easy to work with and they just make taking pictures fun, and I love this window. It's a great place to photograph a family.

Now Ethan. He is one of my very favorite models. Really. He is super smart and talks to me about all kinds of things. I don;t think I was nearly as smart as he is when I was a kid. Someday when he graduates we are taking this same photo in front of Frog Fountain in a cap and gown because I have no doubt he will be a Horned Frog!

By an imprint in the sidewalk. I looooove Ethan's smile.

And Lucy. talk about beautiful. Look at that perfect little face, soft blond baby curls and giant chocolate eyes. I could photograph her all day.

And some cute family photos: the kids together on a Frog bench and a sweet photo of mommy and Ethan.

Then we stopped at the studio for a few white background photos. The kids are so sweet, this photo of Luck with her blanket makes me think of Linus from the Peanuts cartoon, it just melts my heart and I love the photo of her looking up to her big brother. My studio rocks by the way, you should come visit us there for a session. :)

Breleigh smiles!

Last night we had a break-through. Breleigh smiled for her photos :) I've been photographing her for four years at Christmas and she's never smiled. She's smiled for her bluebonnet photos in the spring and she smiles whenever I see her but for some reason in holiday photos...never. But this year...Mommy was smart. She brought the dog. Breleigh loves Alex and so we got lots of great smiles :) I'm smiling too!

So Breleigh was all about modeling for me this time. We jumped and I climbed on a chair and Breleigh even suggested some poses for us. Awesome! She's definitely a cutie!

I made a scrapbook page from on eof her photos using a kit by Lacey Bittner Designs. The kit is called Cozy Christmas and I just loved the colors and peppermint striped paper and oh yeah...I love this photo of Breleigh SMILING!

Family Time!

A few weeks ago I met Melanie, Mark and their four amazing kids. We took photos in the studio an then at one of my favorite urban locations. Mom brought the kids rain boots and those photos turned out super cute!

What a wonderful family.

We had so much fun running and jumping and taking photos outside.

Then mom pulled out the rain boots. I love these! The colors are fun and the kids had a great time modeling them.

Family Portrait Sunday, Part 3

Family Portrait Sunday included Isaac's first birthday photos. And cake! You can never go wrong with cake if you ask me. Mom brought a baby bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes. Have you had one? Oh they are pretty amazing. My favorite is red velvet, no white white chocolate, no carrot, no chocolate chocolate chip. Nevermind, I'm not going to lie...I like them all :) Like might not be the correct word though...do you think I can do this on my birthday? I might need a bigger cake for all the candles ;)

I think Isaac likes cake as much as I do!

Kyndel + Neil = Married

About a month ago I got to photograph Kyndel and Neil's wedding in Amarillo, Texas. It was so amazing to be a part of their wedding weekend. I babysat Kyndel from when she was about 6 months old until I graduated high school and her Dad gave me my first job in the news media at KFDA Channel 10 in Amarillo. I love this family so it was especially wonderful to watch Kyndel tie the knot with the love of her life.

Here are the highlights!

The rings. The stained glass windows were so beautiful at Trinity Lutheran Church that I wanted to capture the colors in their rings...and you can never go wrong with the heart :)

Her dress and handmade jewelry. She had her grandmothers pearls made into jewelry for her wedding day. Love that!

Her shoes. Seriously love these windows.

Reception details. I had to photograph these little glass plates. They reminded me of all the church socials I went to as a kid and Kyndel is an Eagles fan while Neil is a cowboys fan.

Kyndel's mom had a surprise for her. She had Kevin Fowler record an introduction to the Father Daughter Dance Congratulating Kyndel and Neil on their marriage. They danced to his song "Daddies and Daughters". Kyndel was shocked! It was really fun to watch.

I love this couple. They were so much fun to photograph. We've been all over the state of Texas for their wedding. We started with some...not so real engagement photos in Nacodoches last may, then real engagement photos in Normangee, Bridals in Waco and finally their wedding in Amarillo. We did a day after session at the Cadillac Ranch and it was COLD. Kyndel was a trooper in her strapless dress while the rest of us had on long sleeves, and jackets but the pictures are amazing so it was worth it. There was a tourist at the Cadillacs who gave us his can of spray paint when he was done so we painted their wedding date on one of the cars :)

Yesterday I photographed the Cowboys Thanksgiving day game. Somehow I've worked in DFW for 16 years and never covered the Cowboys on Thanksgiving...I guess it was my turn :) I actually had a great game and even got a little TV time. I was on the field for the coin toss and the National anthem, in the right spot for two big touchdowns and the half-time show was awesome! Love Enrique Iglesias and Pit Bull!

One of my photos was on the front page of NFL.com. So super excited about that!

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Pam and Brian. Pam is one of my former students and she holds a very special place in my heart. She was in my class the very first year I taught and she was in a class with one of my other all time favorite students...who just happened to be at the wedding as well :) Their wedding and reception were at Life Fellowship Church in Kennedale and it was simply beautiful. It's so wonderful to photograph a couple as nice and sweet as Pam and Brian whose wedding is all about their love for each other and family.

Last night Lisa and Charlie were married in a beautiful ceremony at Good Shepherd Catholic Church and an awesome reception at Austin Ranch. I met Lisa several years ago at a yearbook camp and I've been waiting for her wedding ever since. Ahhh....mazing! She had all kinds of super fun things planned for the day and it was fun to see all the people I know from the yearbook world outside of school and camp too.

Look at this beautiful family.

She had this cool hanger with her new name on it to hang the dress on.

Love the back of her dress too.

She had 13 bridesmaids and they all had shoes for the ceremony and boots for the reception, and she has two wedding bands. She also had petit fours in lieu of a traditional wedding cake. I {heart} petit fours :) They are like fancy square cupcakes!

She planned a fun first look. Charlie was blindfolded and they rode the party bus together to a park where she took the blindfold off. Talk about suspense! He had to wait so patiently to see his beautiful bride knowing she was right there.

They had a full Catholic Mass and they took a flower up and offered it to Mary. The special moments like this are what weddings are all about.

At the reception they had an Elvis Impersonator sing for her and her mom to dance to. "Hunka, Hunka, Burnin' Love." Did I tell you this was a super fun reception?

He also sang "Can't help Falling in Love" for them to dance to.

The ring bearer had some moves!

A few weeks ago I went to Grand Rapids to photograph the wonderful wedding of Aaron and Wynne. Ahhh...mazing! They are a wonderful couple and photographing them and their families was such a joy. The wedding and reception were at the Amway Grand Hotel so we had so many beautiful places to take pictures. Love that!
The ceremony was in the Gerald R. Ford Ballroom and it's a replica of the Oval Office. It was pretty cool. The room is a square but it feels like a round room because the the domed ceiling and the way the walls are painted. You can see the whole room in the kiss picture a little farther down.

They had a receiving line and afterwards they went back into the room where the ceremony was held while their guests went on to the cocktail hour and I just happened to peek my head in and saw them sitting together in the chairs. I absolutely love this shot. It's completely unposed and I don't think they even knew I was standing there. It's a perfect moment. :)

Sunday morning I got to spend some time with one of the sweetest couples ever. Literally! They gave me a cupcake at the end of our session :) Do they know me or what?! We had a great time photographing around Fort Worth and they brought props and dogs. I love props and dogs...especially when some of the props are cupcakes! They even brought Becca who totally ROCKS. She was out animal talent wrangler for the day and she's one of my very favorite people in this world. If you ever need beautiful handmade beanies for your newborn you should contact her. Gorgeous work! But I digress...back to our super fun, puppy filled, cupcake eating photo session....

We started over at my favorite little rusty door. They are getting married in May and I can't wait!

Love these photos with the pups. Chloe and Timmy were actually great but I think having Becca helped. She totally had a jar of treats and a great whistle :)

So Lisa had this little cutout that said "Laugh" Love it!

We used it for a ring shot too...oh and the cupcake. Dogs pay attention for treats...photographers do too ;) This actually might have been the best cupcake I've ever had. The heart on top was made of white chocolate and the frosting was super amazing. Red Velvet. Yum!

Jessica + Joe = Happily Ever After

A few weeks ago I got to photograph the wonderful wedding of Jessica and Joe. The ceremony was at St. Vincent's Cathedral and the reception was at the Dallas World Aquarium. Two beautiful venues. Kyle Hennigan ran the show at the aquarium and it was amazing from the Japanese lanterns hanging from the ceiling to the sparkler exit. DJ Josh Smith kept the party going all night. My assistant Scott was awesome as well.

It was completely Unforgettable. I love engraved rings by the way.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month so Lacey Bittner Designs and Designer Girl Scraps made a collab kit called Think Pink. I just happened to have the perfect photos of Kenzie to scrap with this kit so here is what I did to showcase the photos with this perfect for them kit. If you know Kenzie you know she has a Guardian Angel who passed away from Breast Cancer before she was born. I was lucky enough to meet Kenzie's grandma and I know what an amazing woman she was. Sweet Summer is 3!

Last weekend was Summer's 3rd birthday and her mom had me come take some photos. She's a super fun little girl with tons of personality. She's grown up so much! You can see her 1 year photos and her 18 month photos. I love watching my models grow. What a cutie!

Last year she was super shy when I took her photo, but not this year :) We had lots of fun posing and laughing and smiling.

Then we got out the halloween costume and it got even better :)

The Stars opened their season last night against the Chicago Blackhawks and not only did I get to see some great friends at the game I got some amazing photos. The glass broke on the door to the visitors tunnel during the third period and I totally nailed the photo. :) Luckily I wasn't shooting from that position...I had been there in the first period shooting ice level.

Last night I was trying to make some room on my Hard Drive for more photos and I came across a folder of photos from my vacation to San Francisco in 2009. Why I had never looked through them and posted anything is beyond me, but I found this really cool photo of the Golden Gate Bridge I took so I thought I would share it. It was one of those perfect days where the clouds were low and swirling around the bridge. What I would call a postcard moment. Enjoy.

Yesterday I had the honor of photographing the wedding of Aaron and Wynne in Grand Rapids. It was fabulous. Here's a little sneak peek.

The rings. They had a map with pins in it of all the places they've travelled. How cool is that?

They had a first look. I totally love the first look. It gives the couple the opportunity to see each other without an audience...well except for me ;) Then they can take almost all their photos before the wedding so they don't feel so rushed and stressed between the wedding and the reception. Every bride I know who's done a first look said it really took the pressure off.

A few shots of them alone. We went out on the street so take photos in front of the hotel and there were tons of people walking around. I like the people passing by...makes it look real.

The ceremony was held in the Gerald Ford Ballroom and there were mirrors lining the walls to look like windows. I was afraid I would be in all the photos but when I took a look during the ceremony it was awesome...I could see the bride and groom everywhere! It was neat to see his face in the reflection when I could see her facing the camera.

Cuddly Kenzie

This afternoon I got to photograph Kenzie in Fort Worth. She's 15 days old today and she is super sweet. Her parents are amazing and her Aunt totally rocks. Mom and Aunt had so many great props that this is just a little sneak peek. There are way more photos to post later :)

And I love how she holds her hands close to her face when she sleeps. So sweet.

A family portrait. You may remember Sam and Jeremiah from their wedding photos May 2010. Now they have a perfect little family :)

These are Kenzie's protectors. Jeremiah's mom passed away before Kenzie was born and we know she's watching over her from heaven while Trixie watches over her here on earth. By the way, Trixie is an amazing dog. Look how she's got her paw just touching Kenzie. We totally did not pose that.

The last two for now. She's got some big blue beautiful eyes and she was actually pretty content laying in daddy's arm like that. The suitcases were Aunt Beth's Idea. She might have to become my stylist. She rocks.

This evening I got to spend some time with Brandy and her parents. They came to the studio for a fun senior portrait session and I think we got some great photos. Here's a peek :)

Fist we went outside to my new favorite shooting place. I love these glass blocks.

We walked around the corner and found this off white wall where we had a little fun climbing in the windows, showing off the boots, and letting the wind blow her hair and skirt.

Then we went into the studio and played with my new floor.

So today I was just posting my scrapbook pages in the galleries I post in when I noticed the home page at Plain Digital Wrapper. My layout was there. I won layout of the week! How cool is that? I'm on the creative team for Artgal Style and I made this layout last week.

Emily - Fort Worth Bridal Portraits

I'm so glad I can finally post Emily's bridal portraits because I really love how they turned out. She decided last minute that she wanted to take some and we had a blast shooting all around downtown Fort Worth. Here are my favorites.

After we shot in the studio we braved the heat outside for a few shots with some bricks and with the courthouse behind her.

Then we stopped at the church where she would get married in just three days.

Dylan - Granbury Senior Portraits

This afternoon I got to spend some time with Dylan and his awesome mom shooting his Senior Portraits at a farm near Granbury.

So...there were some llamas on the farm and they were very interested in our photo session. I've never photographed with llamas roaming freely around but they checked us out then left us alone. We must have been OK :)

This little wooden building was fun and there was a dusty dirt road to walk down.

Emily and Mark are Married!

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Emily and Mark's wonderful wedding at St Patrick Cathedral in Fort Worth. What a beautiful church to work in and what a gorgeous fun couple to work with. Emily and Mark had fun all day. Their reception was at Anglin Occasions, and even though it was over 100-degrees on their wedding day everyone still had a great time. Here are the highlights.

He's a firefighter so they had to take a few photos in the photo booth with fire helmets. Super fun!
